Data Governance – The other part of Material MDM: Part 2
After having a bird’s eye view of data governance last week, it is now time to get down to some details on the topics. In this blog post, we’ll have a look at the role of data governance in master data management.
Data Governance – The follow up to Data Cleansing
Even after the existing data is cleansed and brought up to an acceptable level of quality, the work is far from done. Though the existing data is clean, organizations keep on adding data every minute, and it is critical to ensure the quality of that data, else the effort put into data cleansing is all in vain. This is where data governance comes in.
A data governance framework, such as Verdantis Integrity™, acts as a layer over the multiple ERP/EAM systems large organizations generally have. It prevents duplicate data by checking for duplicates at source of creation, and ensures that the material data retains its credibility for use. E.g. Integrity™ uses embedded AI technology on a real-time basis to prevent duplication at source, ensure permanent data integrity, and enhance search effectiveness.
It is difficult to cover the various ways in which data governance and MDM go hand in hand in a short blog post, but this will, hopefully, help clarify doubts around the issue. In case you would like something else to be covered, please tell us in the comment section below. And do join us next week when we talk more about data stewards – the people at the forefront of data governance.
